Another Pioneer Gone
By the death yesterday of Mr. Geo. McCartney this section loses another of the early pioneers, who first settled in the township of North Dumfries 61 years ago, at the age of 16 years. He was born in Scotland in the year 1834. In religion he was a staunch Presbyterian, while adhering to the Conservative party politically. He was widely known throughout the section and highly respected as a man of honor and integrity. He leaves a widow, son & daughter to mourn their loss. The funeral will take place form his late residence, Ayr, on Friday afternoon to the Ayr cemetery.
