Mrs. Wm. Nicoll
The death occurred in Toronto on Thursday of Janet Mary McIntyre, widow of William Nicoll, a former well - known and highly - esteemed resident of Ayr, in her 88th year. She had been in poor health for several years.
Mrs. Nicoll was born in Puslinch township, a daughter of John McIntyre and Aannabella Stuart, Highland Scottish pioneers. She came to Ayr to reside with her husband upon her marriage some 55 years ago.
Her husband predeceased her 13 year ago. She went to Toronto to reside with her daughter, Mrs. G. C. Horne, about five or six years ago. Mrs. Nicoll was a member of Knox United Church and, during her long residence in this village, made many warm friends.
She is survived by four children, as follows: Mrs. J. A. Campbell (Annabella), St. Thomas; Mrs. G. C. Horne (Christine), Toronto; William J. Nicoll, Elizabeth, N.J., an4 Stuart B. Nicoll of Toronto; also by seven grandchildren. Misses Christine McIntyre and Annie McIntyre, Swan street, are sisters.
The Funeral.
The funeral took place from the residence of her sisters, the Misses McIntyre, Swan street, on Saturday afternoon to the Ayr Cemetery. Rev. R. A. Steed, pastor of Knox United Church, conducted the services, which were largely attended by many friends and relatives. There were many beautiful floral tributes. The pallbearers were: J. C. Kyle, Edward Whitson, W. J. McRuer, R. E. Maeder, D. S. Watson and G. S. Dalrymple.
Friends and relatives were in attendance from the following out-of-town points: Niagara Falls, Galt. Hespeler, Drumbo, Toronto and Niagara-On-the-Lake.
