    • Death of George Keachie

      A resident of Ayr for the past 14 years, George Keachie passed away at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, on Tuesday, Aug. 7, following a heart attack. He was in his 67th year.

      Born in Sheffield, Ont. in 1896, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Keachie. Prior to coming to Ayr, he resided in Paris where he was an employee of Penmans Ltd. for many years. The late Mr. Keachie was affiliated with Knox United Church.

      Surviving, besides his wife, the former Violet D. Plumtree, are three daughters: Mrs. Fred Mantle (Mary), of Paris, Georgina and Ruth, both at home; a brother Frank in Waterloo and five grand-children.

      The Funeral

      Funeral service was held at the Coutts Funeral Home, Galt, on Friday conducted by Rev. Arthur Lewis of Lincoln Ave. United Church, Galt. Interment followed in Ayr Cemetery. The pallbearers were: George Smye, Jr., William Page, Clarence Campbell, Emerson McDonald and Warren Vincent, of Ayr community, and Bailey Keachie of Galt.
