- Mrs. Leslie Turnbull Passes
A well-known Ayr resident, Mrs. Leslie W. Turnbull, 59, passed away Saturday in K-W Hospital, Kitchener, following a brief illness. The former Marjorie Clara Scott, she was born in Plattsville, a daughter of the late Charles Scott and his wife, Clara Bricker. She came to Ayr 37 years ago and was a member of Knox United church and the United Church Women. Surviving, besides her husband, are five sons, Douglas of Hamilton, Robert of Galt, James, William and Brian, all at home; four daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Joan) Marco of Brantford, Mrs. Roy (Marilyn) Hartwick of Kitchener and Donna and Nancy, both at home; three brothers, George Scott of Innerkip, Edward and Stuart, both of Plattsville, and a sister, Mrs. Roy (Mary) Roth of New Hamburg. Funeral service was held at the Glendinning Funeral Home, Plattsville, on Tuesday, conducted by Rev. Dr. Andrew Denholm, Paris. Burial was made in Ayr Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Wallace Turnbull, Carl E. Buck, J. S. Lake, Ralph Wigboldus, George Stockton, all of Ayr and district, and Roy Roth, RR 2, New Hamburg. Flower bearers were: Fred Farrell, Earl Prike, Emerson McDonald, John T. Hall and Elliott Riddell.
