  Arthur W. Hawes Passes A lifelong Ayr resident, Arthur W. Hawes, passed away early this (Wednesday) morning in St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener. Born in Ayr, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ellery Hawes, he was in his 70th year. He had been employed by the former Reid Lumber and Coal Co. in Ayr for many years until his retirement some years ago due to ill health. For the past two years he had been employed by the John Watson Mfg. Co. Mr. Hawes was a member of Knox United Church as well as Dolman Lodge, No. 174, I.O.O.F. His wife, the former Myrtle Sterling, survives. Also surviving are one son; Harold of Galt; two daughters, Mrs. William (Shirley) Garraway, Preston, and Mrs. David (Marjorie) Kerr, Ayr; two brothers, Melvin, Bright, and Edward, Port Credit; three sisters, Mrs. Emery (Isabel) Radke, New Dundee; Mrs. Wilbur (Alice) Ott, Kitchener, and Hilda, New York State. Also surviving are six grandchildren. Friends will be received at Little's Funeral Home, 39 Grand Ave. North, Galt, where funeral service will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. D. E.
