Notes |
- Sudden Death of Wm. Clark - The call to Mr. Wm. Clark of North Dumfries on Saturday was sudden and quite unexpected. He was assisting at Mr. Robert Barrie's threshing when be sustained a stroke. Medical aid was called, but he did not long survive the attack. This is the third member of the family to succumb to this disease, a brother and sister having had similar sudden calls. The deceased, who was in his 50th year, was born on the farm on which he lived (the old homestead), and was widely known and highly respected. Of a quiet, unassuming disposition, he took little part in public affairs, and had never married. In politics he was a Conservative and in religion a Presbyterian. He is survived by a brother, sister and niece, Mr. Walter Clark and Miss Mary E. Clark, Aye, and Miss Tunney in the home. The funeral to Ayr cemetery on Tuesday was largely attended, Rev. J.J. Brown conducting the service. The pallbearers were Messrs. David Gemmell, Thos. Hope, Wm. Ritchie, Jno. .Bruce, Jackson Clark and Robt. Matheson.
