    • Prominent Dairyman Passed in 76th Year

Death claimed one of the district's best known farmers early Friday evening in the sudden passing of John Kyle, South Dumfries, as the result of a heart attack. The late Mr. Kyle, a lifelong resident of the district, was in his 76th year.

Born in South Dumfries, on the farm now occupied by William Perry, he was a son of the late George Kyle and Margaret Kingsburgh, pioneers in this district.

He was married to Bessie Guthrie, who survives him, 35 years ago, and had for many years operated the farm on the Blenheim Townline, where he had become a prominent dairy farmer, noted for his fine herd of purebred Jerseys.

Previous to going into dairy cattle, he had been in partnership with his brother, James Kyle, in the beef cattle line, and their success in this venture is indicated by the numerous prizes which Kyle cattle took in the foremost cattle shows of 30 years ago.

He was a member of Knox United Church, Ayr.

Surviving, besides his wife, are five daughters and two sons: Margaret, Ruth and Isabel, at home; Mrs. Stewart Wells (Elizabeth), Windsor; Mrs. Glen Cruickshank (Barbara), Princeton; Kingsburgh and Robert, at home. A brother, James Kyle, of Blenheim, and a sister, Mrs. George Muma (Annie), of South Dumfries and two grandchildren also survive.

      The Funeral

The funeral was held from his late residence on Monday afternoon, interment being made in the Ayr Cemetery. A wide circle of friends and relatives from the district and distant points were in attendance to pay their last respects. The service was conducted by Rev. W. D. Goodger. The pallbearers were: Harold Kyle, John Nunan, John Morrison, Robert Sayles, Wilbur Guthrie and Fred Muma of Hamilton.

Flower-bearers were: L. C. Vincent, R. A. McRuer, Earl Smith, Andrew Stockton, Roy Elmes and J. W. Maus.
