The death occurred at the K-W Hospital on Tuesday of Reginald (Reg.) Parker, one of Ayr's well-known citizens, in his 80th year. Mr. Parker had been in ill health for some time but had been hospitalized for only one day. Born in Guelph, he learned Moulding and was considered one of the experts in the trade in the years prior to the introduction of machinery. He came to Ayr as a young man where he was employed for years in the moulding shop at the Watson company. He subsequently worked in other centres, returning to Ayr during World War II. Following his retirement he moved to California for period of seven years before returning to this village, where he lived since. Reg., as he was known to a wide circle of friends, was a great lover of sports. In his youth he played hockey and other athletics, and in later years was a constant supporter of local hockey and ball teams. He served from 1914-18 with the first Canadian division in World War I, and was later active in the Canadian Legion. Surviving are a son, Russell of Winnipeg; a daughter, Mrs. Anthony Collins (Orma) of Toronto; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held on Friday at 2.30 p.m. at the W. O. Ball Funeral Home, with interment in Ayr Cemetery.
