    • Gordon Roy, 52, a former resident of Ayr and well-known garage mechanic in the district, died at his home in New Dundee early Thursday morning following a lingering illness. He had been a patient of Westminster Hospital, London, for a lengthy period prior to returning home. Born in Alma, Ont., January 26, 1903, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Roy. He came to Ayr in 1938, where he was employed at the County Garage. During World War II he served overseas with the Royal Canadian Armoured Corps. At the cessation of hostilities, he returned here where he worked in garages until a few years ago, when he moved to New Dundee to take a position with Bechtel Motors. The late Mr. Roy was a member of Ayr Lodge, A.F. & A.M. Surviving, besides his wife, the former Margaret Guthrie, of near Ayr, are a son, Kenneth of New Dundee; a brother and two sisters. Funeral service was held from the Ratz - Bechtel Funeral Home, Kitchener, on Saturday, conducted by Rev. O. P. Hossie of Trinity United Church, Kitchener. Interment was made in Ayr Cemetery, where Masonic grave-side rites were held under the direction of Wor. Bro. John Kanmacher. Pallbearers were: Carl E. Buck, J. Aikens, Percy Wetlau, Hugh McDougall, Garfield Weber and Earl Einwechter.
