- Irvin D. Seyler
Long-time resident of Grey Street, Ayr, Irvin David Seyler passed away at Cambridge Memorial Hospital on Thursday, February 4th, 1999. His death occurred one day after his 78th birthday. Born in Petersburg, he was a son of the late Peter Seyler and Wilhelmina (Minnie) Stroh. Upon marriage to Jean Christine Marshall, over 50 years ago, the couple took up residence on Grey Street in Ayr. Irvin originally, drove bus for Leishman Coach Lines before establishing I.D. Seyler Transport which transported grain and feed for Ayr Feed and Supply. He subsequently sold, his trucking business to Ayr Feed and joined the firm as a maintenance person. He continued in this capacity until retirement. Irvin was a long-time member of Knox United Church and served several years as a volunteer with the Ayr Fire Department. In addition to many community activities, he was a long-time member of the Hardy Bay Hunt, Club and the I.O.O.F., initially belonging to the Ayr Lodge No. 174 and later Princeton Lodge No. 307. Beloved husband of the late Jean Christine Marshall (1990); dear father of Miriam and her husband Ted Spence of Guelph, Betty at home, and Patricia and her husband Mike Howells of RR 1, Drumbo; Grandpa of Michael, Timothy, Jeffrey, Christopher and Scott; brother of Harold of Petersburg, Peter of St. Jacobs, Clarence of Heidelberg and Helen Knarr of Elmira; and brother-in-law of Peggy Marshall of Kitchener, Doris and Jack Fried of RR 1, Ayr and Bill Gray of Ayr. Also predeceased by sisters Wilhelmina, Edna and Elsie and brothers Hilbert and Adam. Rev. Fred Hagle conducted funeral services at the Ayr Chapel, Win. Kipp Funeral Home on Monday, February 8th at 1: 30 p.m. Interment Ayr Cemetery.
