  • Notes
    • Canadian Held as POW for Four Years

Roger C. Stager married his wife Ruth on Nov. 4, 1945, less than two months after he was liberated from a prisoner of war camp in Japan by the Americans.

He was in San Francisco, California. The Red Cross gave him a free call, so he called his mother. He asked how much would it cost to make another call and he called Ruth. He proposed to her in the Toronto train station.

Robert and Ruth have three children and four grandchildren.
