  John R. Easton Dies In 85th Year - One of the district's oldest residents, John R. Easton, aged 84, died at the Kitchener -Waterloo Hospital on Fridays, July 22, where he had been confined for the past ten weeks. He was born in South Dumfries on the Easton homestead, where he farmed all his life, and which is now owned by his son, James Easton. Mr. Easton was a son of the late Thomas Easton and Mary Richmond. He was a member of Knox United Church, Ayr. He was predeceased by his wife, Jessie Robson. Surviving are a son, James, RR 3, Ayr; a daughter, Mrs. Leslie (Mary) McConnell of London, and five grandsons. Funeral service was conducted by Rev. W. J. V. Buchanan at the Cumming Funeral Home, Paris, on Monday. Interment was in the Ayr Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Roland Maeder, Wallace Dance, Harley Ballantyne, Charles Gunn, Alden Cochrane and Peter Gourlay. The Ayr News Jul 28 1960 pg 6
