    • William Pipe Dies Of Accident Injuries

      The community was saddened by the untimely death early Saturday morning of William John Pipe, 22, in K-W Hospital. He was critically injured in a traffic accident north of Roseville on O-tober 21, and remained in coma until his passing.

      He was a passenger in a station wagon driven by A. W. Wood of Ayr, which was in collision with a gravel truck at the intersection of the Roseville - Kitchener Road and County Road 7. Mr. Pipe was born in Ayr on September 27. 1944, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Pipe, and had lived all of his life in the village.

      He was one of the community's most talented and well liked athletes, excelling particularly in hockey. He came up through the Ayr minor hockey system and subsequently played with the Ayr Rockets. as well as with Paris and New Hamburg junior clubs. Mr. Pipe also was a former member of the Ayr Vets softball club.

      He attended Ayr public school and later secondary schools in Galt. At the time of his death he was a student at a Kitchener collegiate, and was on his way to classes when the tragic accident occurred.

      Mr. Pipe was an adherent of Christ Church, Ayr.

      Surviving, besides his parents, are two sisters, Mrs. Edward Hachey (Jean) of Ayr and Miss Mary Pipe of Kitchener, two brothers, James and Donald at home.
      Funeral service was held on Monday from the Coutts & Son Funeral Home, Galt. with interment in Ayr Cemetery. Rev. N. A. Tilford officiated.

      Pallbearers were: Reed Wilson, Cameron Ballantyne, Robert Watson, Dean Sayles David Horgan and Ivan Hall, all of Ayr district.
