    • Passing of Mrs. Annie Gillespie

      Her many friends in Ayr were shocked on Sunday afternoon to learn of the sudden passing in Detroit of Mrs. Annie Gillespie, William street, Ayr.

      Mrs. Gillespie had been unwell for several months and about six weeks ago went to Detroit to stay with her daughter, Mrs. Robert Wolfe.

      After spending her girlhood days in this, her native village, Mrs. Gillespie subsequently resided with her husband and family in Kincardine, Galt, Brantford and Detroit.

      The family returned to Ayr about 18 years ago; and Mr. Gillespie passed away some three years later.

      Mrs. Gillespie was a member of Knox United Church and also of the Ayr Women's Institute. She was quite popular among the social groups of the village.

      Surviving are a son and three daughters: Harry, of New Orleans; Mrs. Georgina Shearer and Mrs. Robert Wolfe of Detroit and Mrs. Fred Gray, New Jersey; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren: also Christena Scott, Henry Scott and William Scott of Ayr.

      The Funeral

      The funeral was held upon the arrival of the 2: 10 pm train on Tuesday, with a short service conducted by Rev. W. D. Goodger at the depot and graveside service at the Ayr Cemetery. The pallbearers were: Alex McLeod, Jr., William Watkins, E. H. Freer, H. L. Charles, F. R. McGrogan and. E. Buck.
