  DEATH OF JOHN S. MARKLE The death occurred Monday afternoon, December 14, at his late residence on the Ayr road, South Dumfries township, of John S. Markle, in his 88th year. Deceased was a member of an old pioneer family, being born on the family homestead where he resided his entire life. He was considered one of the outstanding farmers in the district. Mr. Markle, in spite of his advancing years, had enjoyed excellent health and had taken a keen interest in his surroundings until about a month previous to his death. Surviving are three sons, Leslie and Ralph, at home, and Lloyd on the adjoining farm. His wife predeceased him in March, 1941, as did a son, Clifford, in Brantford, in September, 1937. Three granddaughters and a sister, Mrs. Alex Ames, Galt, also survive. The funeral took place to Ayr Cemetery on Thursday afternoon. The services were in charge of Rev. C. W. Mixer, rector of Christ Church, and the pallbearers were: Cecil, Roy and Thomas Kelley, William D. Hall, Theodore Bayles and Currie Smuck. The Ayr News Dec 24 1942 pg 1
