  • Notes 
    • A well-known resident of the Ayr district, Frank Cromwell, RR 3, Bright, passed away in St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener on Saturday, July 19th. He was 53. Born in Medina, he was a son of Mrs. Mary Cromwell of Woodstock and the late Charles Cromwell. Frank came to Ayr in 1941. Here he apprenticed as a molder under Albert "Dad" Melvin at Watson's. After five years he went to McDougall's in Galt until the early 1950's when he moved to Otaco at Orillia. He returned to Hespeler in the mid 50's and worked at the Bock Foundry. When Bock's moved to Ayr he came with the firm which later became Date Industries. At the time of his death Frank was superintendent at Date. A faithful follower of Ayr's intermediate ball and hockey club's of the 40's and 50's, Frank coached softball while in Orillia. Surviving besides his mother are his wife, the former Evelyn Hooton, whom he married in 1942; sons Ronald of Coldwater, Ontario, and Albert of Edmonton; a daughter, Mrs. Wayne (Karen) Sage of Kitchener; two grandchildren; brothers Leroy of Woodstock and Lloyd of Ingersoll. Predeceased by a brother Gordon. Funeral service was held Tuesday at the Smith and Thompson Funeral Home, Paris. Deacon McAlpine of Christ Anglican Church, Ayr, officiated. Interment in Ayr Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jim Mast, Sr.; Everett Hussey, Walter Dedman, Earl Galliher, Nick Gebel and Russ Throwhill.
