      Former Ayr resident, James Heman Davis, died suddenly in Westree on Saturday, December 10, 1994; as the result of a snowmobile accident. Mr. Davis was in his 68th year. Born in Folden's Corners on May 26, 1927, he was the son of the late Clarence W. Davis and Eva Thornton. The family operated Davis Butcher Shop on Northumberland Street and an abattoir at the east end of Main Street. For several years they also operated a market garden. Jim retired to northern Ontario ten years ago. He was an avid outdoorsman and hunter, had curled and participated in tractor pulling, and was a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge. Survived by dear friend and companion Janice Hale of Westree; his sons Clare and his wife Linda and Ron and his wife Nancy, both of Ayr, Terry and his wife Cheryl of Cambridge; daughters Laslie and her husband Bruce Hallman o f New Dundee; Brenda and her husband Adrien Powell of Kansas City, Missouri; stepchildren Steven Godfrey and his wife Allison of Guelph, Cyndy and her husband Jeff Drohan of Clifford and Shawn Godfrey of British Columbia; a brother Max of London; sister Wilhelmina Martz of Cambridge; also several grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Predeceased by a brother Leslie Davis (WWII). Funeral service was held at the Ayr chapel of William Kipp Funeral Home, Saturday, December 17th at 1: 30 p.m. Reverend Fred Hagle of Knox United Church, Ayr, officiated.
