Highly Esteemed Resident Passes To Her Reward on Friday In Her 79th Year.
Another of Ayr's elder residents passed to her reward on Friday at a Nursing Home In Toronto in the person, of Sarah Harywood, widow of Charles H. Clarke, in her 79th year. Mrs. Clarke had been residing with her son, Charles, in Coniston since last fall and was removed to Toronto some six weeks ago. . She had been in ill health for about a year.
Deceased was born in Ravensthorpe, Northamptonshire, England and came to Canada with her husband and two sons in 1913, where they settled in ?????. Mrs. Clarke passes away January 2, 1921.
Mrs. Clarke was a valued member of Christ Church and, so long as her health permitted. took an active part the work of the congregation. She had a host of warm friends and was highly esteemed for her many excellent qualities.
Besides her two sons Charles Haywood Clarke, Coniston and Henry Alfred Haywood Clarke, Orono, she is survived by six grandchildren. Two sisters in England also survive.
The funeral took place from Christ Church, Ayr, on Monday afternoon at 2.30 o'clock to the Ayr Cemetery and was largely attended. The Rev. C. V. Tomkins had charge of the services, and the pallbearers were: James A. Dalzell, Wm. Watkins, James D. Patterson, Andrew L. Easton, Wm. J. Turnbull and James Matheson.
