- Sudden Death
Joseph Wismer, Sr., Expired Tuesday Afternoon While Driving in Car
Death came suddenly on Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock to Joseph Hewitt Wismer of Ayr as he was riding in the car of Roy Hall, 13th concession of Blenheim. Mr. Wismer had been visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Kaufman and was walking home when picked up by Mr. and Mrs. Hall between the farms of H. C. Schlichter and W. Sherk. Mr. Wismer sat in the back seat and was chatting with Mr. and Mrs. Hall, who occupied the front seat, when he suddenly collapsed as the car was going down the hill at the Black Horse Corner. Mr. Hall drove his car to the Eph. Stager home nearby, and phoned for Dr. Woolner, who pronounced Mr. Wismer dead. Deceased had been suffering from a heart ailment for some time to which his sudden passing is attributed. Mr. Wismer was born, in Woolwich Township 74 years ago and had resided in Ayr for the past 40 years. He was known and much esteemed by a wide circle of friends who will be greatly shocked to learn of his sudden passing. He is survived by three sons and a daughter, his wife having predeceased him in October; William Wismer, Bruce; Joseph Wilmer, Ayr; David Wismer, Drumbo, and Mrs. Robbins (Florence). Also surviving are a brother, William, St. Catharines, and eight grandchildren. The funeral will take place this (Thursday) afternoon at 2.30 o'clock from the W. O. Ball Funeral Parlor to the Ayr Cemetery.
