      Well known Ayr resident Stella Mae (Mitchell) died after a brief illness at the Brantford General Hospital on Friday, March 26,2004. She was in her 91st year

      Born in Bright she was the daughter of the late Meta Brutzki and Richard Mitchell

      Stella and her late husband, Murray E. Smith (1987) owned and operated the Green Thistle Restaurant in Ayr for many years. She was also a longtime employee of the Queen's Tavern in Ayr.

      She is survived by her daughter, Shirley and her husband Robert Watson of Ayr, and by her grandsons Jamie Watson and his wife Eve of Fort William, Scotland and Duane Watson and his wife Angela of Ayr and great-grand-daughter Carmen of Scotland.

      In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by her infant twin daughters Florence and Faye (1938); sisters Laura Hogg, Helen Pipe, Blanche King and brothers Howard, Clarence and Dick Mitchell Funeral service was livid at the Ayr Chapel, Win Kipp Funeral Home on Tuesday. March 30 Reverend Lynne Calhoun officiated. interment was in Ayr Cemetery
