Mr. George Becker, Aged 68 Years Passes Away Early This Morning
The sad death occurred this morning early, of George Becker, a lugh I respected resident of Berlin in his 69th year.
Deceased was born in Wellesley township in 1844, passing his boyhood days on his father's farm. In 1867 he was united in marriage to Caroline Segmueller of Petersburg. after which he lived in Baden for three years where he owned a hotel twelve years in Petersburg, where he also conducted a hotel. The past thirteen vears he had been in Berlin where he has made a large number of friends
A widow and eleven children, all of whom are grown, and all but three of whom are married, survive,to mourn the loss of a loving husband and father. A brother in Alberta, sister in Tavistock and twenty one grandchildren also survive. His death makes the first break in the family circle.
Although naturally reserved deceased possessed a pleasant and cherry disposition and made and retained a great many friends, who will deeply regret his removal. He was essentially a home man. living and working for the home, which, always bright and cheery, possessed it's owner's attraction for friends, and the hospitality shown kept it filled with guests.
The following children survive:- John, of Oshawa, Adam, Berlin, Dan. Munising, Mich, George, Traverse City, Mich, Harry. Tecumseh, Mich, William. Winona, Minn, Charles Newark, NY, Kate at home. Mrs E. J. Seip, Berlin, Mrs. Herman Zimmerman, Berlin or town, Fred, Elmira.
The füneral will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from his late residence Heins Avenue, to St. Paul's church for service and Mount Hope cemetery for burial. The family requests that no flowers be sent.
