- Campbell.-On the 9th inst in New Hamburg, Margaret Eliza Smith, relict of the late Robert Campbell, in her 71st year.
Hamburg Independent 16 Oct 1908
________
Death of Mrs. R Campbell
Mrs Campbell, widow of the late Major Robert Campbell, died at the home of Mr. W. R. Plum last Friday morning after an illness of a week's duration. The deceased spent the past ten months nursing a sister, Mrs. Helmer, at Cissua Park, Ill. At her sister's death, Mrs.Campbell returned to New Hamburg for a well earned rest, and shortly after her return was taken ill with congestion of the lungs. The announcement of her death was a shock to the people of this community. Only her immediate friends knew of her serious illness. Her death was a most peaceful one, scarcely suffering any pain. She had made her home some years with her sisters, Mrs. W. R. Plum, and Mrs. J. Cook, of Berlin, and will be greatly missed by her relatives and friends. She was of a most kindly disposition and always deeply interested where sympathy was needed. She was married to the late Major Robert Campbell, who at one time lived in East Zorra, but moved to New Hamburg some years ago. Her remains were laid to rest in the St James' cemetery, Huron Road on Monday last. Her brothers have been dead several years and her surviving sisters are Mrs Cook, of Berlin, Mrs. Weaver, of Iowa, Mrs. Bean,
