Cambridge Times 7 Jul 2015
Eleanor was born, raised, and educated in Morgantown, Monongalia, WV, the elder of two sisters. As a child she enjoyed the simple pleasures of picnics with her family in God's beautiful countryside around Morgantown. She received a Bachelor of Music degree from West Virginia University and a Master of Arts degree in music from Teachers College, Columbia University. She was a member of the Kappa Phi Methodist Women's Sorority and a charter member of Epsilon Nu chapter, Mu Phi Epsilon music honorary. Eleanor had a beautiful, well-trained soprano voice which she used to witness her Christian faith. She was an accomplished offertory soloist and chancel choir member at Wesley Methodist Church, Morgantown; and a chancel choir member at Riverside Church in New York City. She loved singing the great musical selections by the masters, especially the musical arrangements of the 13th Chapter of 1st Corinthians, the "Omnipotence" by Schubert, and "I Know That My Redeemer Liveth," from Handel's "Messiah." In West Virginia, she taught music at Morgantown Junior High School; Nicholas County High School in Summersville (1943-45); and at Weir High School in Weirton. In New York she taught choral music at White Plains elementary school and was Supervisor of Music for Peekskill Public Schools. She married Harold George Morrow of Canada on July 12, 1958; they had no children. They lived all of their married life in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada, where he pre-deceased her. Eleanor also taught music in the Preston/Cambridge schools and was a long-time member and clerk at King Street Baptist Church in Cambridge. She was laid to rest at Parklawn Cemetery in Cambridge on July 2, 2015.
