PRESTON - Cecil E. Atkinson, 468 Rose St., died Thursday at South Waterloo Hospital, Galt. He was 46.
Mr. Atkinson was born in Preston and had lived here all his life. He was employed at Canadian Office and School Furniture, Ltd. He also served on the local fire department for a number of years. He was a member of St. John's Anglican Church and was a veteran of the Second World War serving with the R.C.A.S.C. from 1939 to 1945. He was a, member of the local Royal Canadian Legion.
Surviving are his wife, the former Charlotte Clasper; two sons, Michael of the R.C.M.P. at La Pas, Man., and Timothy at home; two daughters, Shawn and Theresa, both at home; four brothers, Ernest, Michael Lawrence, all of Preston, and William of Galt; one sister, Mrs. Robert (Inez) Cram of Preston.
The body is at Barthel-Stager Funeral Home until Saturday at 1 p.m. when removal will be made to St. John's Anglican Church for funeral service at 2 .p.m. Committal service will be at Preston Park Lawn Memorial Chapel.
A memorial service will be held tonight at 7 o'clock at the funeral home under the auspices of the Royal Canadian Legion.
