On August 18, 1997, after a brief illness, Eleanor Gertrude (Pitcher), succumbed at Cambridge Memorial Hospital. Eleanor was the beloved mother of Eleanor Anne (Bob Rumley) of Oakville, Betty (Jack Barnes) of Cambridge, Linda (Larry Miske) of Desboro and Jim Ranscombe (Dianne Hood) of Toronto. Dear Gram of David and Peter Rumley, Ron and Cory Barnes, Lee and Lincoln Miske, Sally and William Ranscombe, Special great-gram of Amanda, Jason and Rebecca Rumley. Born Oct. 2, 1915, in Brantford. Eleanor was a keen observer of politics, a supporter of the Girl Guide movement, a former First Lady of the Preston Fire Department and a avid walker and a master crocheter. She is survived by her sister, Jessie of Cambridge and was predeceased by her loving husbands; Ted Ranscombe (1965) and Norman Wismer (1982), brothers, Donald and Russell and parents, Arthur Smith Pitcher and Gertrude Dressell Pitcher. At Mom's request, a private family service was held.
