- John Bradley, Blair, Found Dead at Gateway
PRESTON, Dec, 6 -- John Bradley, 70, Blair, respected and well-known South Waterloo resident, was found dead at the gate entrance to his home at 7 o'clock this morning by members of his family. Mr. Bradley, who last night had attended a meeting of directors of the Preston Horticultural Society in Preston, had apparently suffered a heart attack at the gateway to his home when returning following the meeting, Members of the faimly, it is understood, waited until midnight for his return and then retired. On arising this morning they telephoned Preston to determine if he had remained in town overnight for some reason, and on being advised he had left for his home at 10 o'clock last night instituted a search.
ACTIVE HORTICULTURIST
Dr. C. G. Powers, coroner, and Dr. A. D. C. McLagan were called "Death was due to natural causes, a heart attack." Dr. Powers stated. Mr. Bradley, an enthusiastic horticulturist and gardener, took a keen and active interest in the Preston Horticultural Society and attended the December meeting at the home of the president, Arthur Pfeiffer, last evening. "He appeared in good health and excellent spirits," society officials said and addressed the meeting briefly. It was with sincere regret and distinct shock that we learned of his sudden passing from a heart attack. Born at West Harn, England. Mr. Bradley came to Canada 31 years also, living at Preston for eight years, and at Blair for the past 23 years, He was a coach painter and paper han ger by trade. and at one time was employed by the Preston Car and Coach Co., later at Clare Brothers Foundry as a driller.
MEMBER OF LEGION
He was member of St. John's Anglican Church, the Masonic Lodge, the Blue Lodge of Leyton. England, the Manchester I.O.O.F., the Preston Legion branch, and the Sons of England. He was an active member of the Preston Horticultural Society. Survivors are his wife, the former Florence Jones, a daughter, Mrs, Gordon Kinzie of Preston; two sons, John of Clinton and Walter of Blair; a brother, Harry, at West Ham; a sister, Mrs. Walter Maxon of Illford, England. The remains are at the Stager-Pass Funeral Home. The funeral will take place at St. John's Anglican Church on Saturday at 2: 30 p.m.
