      Elizabeth Gillanders - Died peacefully at South Waterloo Memorial Hospital, Cambridge, on Thursday, April 27, 1978, in her 84th year. Miss Savage was born in Brisbane, Australia and was educated at St. Andrew's private school and Coorparoo public school. She later emmigrated to Newtownards, County Down, Ulster, with her family and came to Preston, Canada, in 1913. She resided at 392 Dolph St., Cambridge (P). Active in community and church affairs, Miss Savage was frequently a delegate to Hydro Electric Power Commission conventions and was one of several honored by the municipality for PUC service just a year ago. A member of St. John's Anglican Church, Miss Savage was a former member of the Board of Management and an elected delegate to the Synod of Huron. She was an active member of the Anglican Church Women's Circle. She was also a member of the Progressive Conservative party. Predeceased by her parents, William and Isobella Savage; her sisters Margaret and Sarah (Sadie) RNJM. She is survived by her sisters Isobel (Elsie), Annie R.N. of Cambridge (P) and nephew Trevor L. Jones, his wife Marilyn and grand-niece Meghan Elizabeth Jones and grandnephew Scott Flint Savage Jones, all of Kitchener. Miss Savage is resting at the Barthel-Stager Funeral Home, 588 Queenston Rd., Cambridge (P), where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, April 28. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be most appreciated. The funeral will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 29, at St. John's Anglican Church, Queenston Rd., Cambridge, followed by a committal service at Preston cemetery. Rev. Canon A. H. Skirving will officiate.
