    • PETERSBURG WOMAN DIES; BADLY BURNED

Mrs. Henry Doelle Victim of Coal Oil Explosion at Her Home.

ENVELOPED IN FLAMES; DIES AT HOSPITAL

Terribly burned about the entire body as a result of a can of coal oil exploding, Mrs. Henry Doelle of Petersburg, beloved wife of Mr. Henry Doelle, well known rural mail driver, died at the St. Mary's hospital at Kitchener shortly after six o'clock on Wednesday evening. She was in her 68th year. The unfortunate woman was engaged lighting a fire in the kitehen stove at her Petersburg home about ten o'clock Tuesday morning when a can of coal oil she was holding exploded. The flames immediately ignited her clothing. Her screams brought her daughter, Clara, from the next room to her aid, who called neighbors. Before the flames were extinguished the clothing had been practically burned from her body. Mrs. Doelle, with her entire body badly scorched, eye brows, lashes and hair badly singed, was rushed to the St. Mary's Hospital by Dr. William Geiger of Waterloo, who was quickly on the scene. Although suffering intense pain, Mrs. Doelle remained conscious almost to the time of her death, surrounded by members of her family. She had been so severely burned that no hope was entertained for her recovery from the start. Fortunately the small blaze in the kitchen of the home was extinguished and little damage resulted. The funeral will take place from the family residence at Petersburg at two o'clock on Friday afternoon to the Lutheran Church and cemetery for service and interment. Surviving are a sorrowing husband, three sons and one daughter. She was in her 68th year.
