    • Charles Clare Laid to Rest

      Charles Clare one of Preston's well known and highly respected citizens was laid to rest this afternoon. Deceased had been a resident of Preston for a great many years was well known and was held in the highest esteem by all that knew him.

      Deceased was in his 79th year was born in Hamilton and when but a child came to Preston with his parents and has resided here ever since. His father John Clare was the founder of the well known firm of Clare Bros. one of Canada's largest manufacturers of stoves. The late Mr. Clare always took an active interest in town affairs and was a brother of the late Hon. George A. Clare. The funeral this afternoon was very largely attended.
