  AUGUST VONDRAU PRESTON, June 24\emdash August Vondrau pioneer resident of Preston and wellknown citizen over a long period of years, died in his home, 917 King Street, yesterday afternoon. In his 85th year, the deceased had been ailing for the past two years and critically for the last eight months. Born in Preston, the late Mr. Vondrau lived in the municipality and the district practically all his life. His wife nee Catharine Brill, predeceased him five years ago. For some years, Mr.Vondrau farmed at Pine Bush, between Preston and Blair, while he also operated a cooper shop there, having learned the trade of barrel making form his father. The deceased also, operated a meat business for some years, He had lived retired for the past 15 years. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Melvin Schweitzer of Bridgeport and Mrs. Albert Morrison, of Kitchener, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The late Mr. Vondrau is resting at the H. K. Stager Funeral Home, corner of Queen and Argyle Streets, Preston, from where the funeral will be held on Friday at 2: 30. Interment will be in Preston Cemetery.
