- GALBRAITH, Elsie
Died peacefully at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, on Saturday, Jan. 10, 1998 with her family at her side. Beloved wife of the late James Galbraith, Elsie was born in Liverpool, England, 1921. She worked as a war nurse during the Second World War. After emigrating to Canada in 1949, Elsie and Jim settled in Preston. Elsie had a long history of service including work for the Children's Aid Society, the Red Cross and the Girl Guides. Elsie is survived by her daughter Ann Clare and husband Mark of Cambridge; her daughter Claire van Wijk and husband Dirk of Elmira; her grandchildren, Joshua, April, Chantal, Beth and James; and her sister, Jean Philipps and family of Liverpool. A memorial service for Elsie will be announced later.
