- Dean of Doctors Dies at Kitchener
Dr. F. H. Kalbfleisch Dies at Home in 71st Year.
One of the oldest and highly esteemed physicians in Waterloo County in the person of Dr. Frederick Henry Kalbfleisch, passed away at his home in Kitchener on Friday morning, aged 70 years. He had been in failing health for the past fifteen months but was confined to his bed only a short time.
Members of the medical profession, business associates and friends attended the funeral in large numbers on Monday. Rev. A. J. Lewis of Benton St. Baptist Church officiated. Interment was made in Preston cemetery.
The late Dr. Kalbfleisch was born. in Bridgeport, a son of the late George Kalbfleisch and Dorothy Becker. He was a member of the Masonic Order and many other fraternal societies. An ardent lover of sport, he was a member of the hockey and baseball associations for many years. After graduating from Trinity Medical College, Toronto, in 1888, he practiced at Paisley, Brussells and later moved to Kitchener. He was president of the Waterloo County Medical Association for a year and coroner of the county for 22 years.
Surviving are his wife, nee Estrella Roos, one daughter, Mrs. C. J. (Ernie) Sharpe, and one grandchild, Marian. Three sisters, Mrs. William Meinke and Mrs. August Jukes, both of Kitchener, and Mrs. Robert Miller of Los Angeles, California, also survive.
Three brothers, George, Eckert, and Martin Kalbfleisch, and three sisters, Mrs. James Heath, Mrs. William Walker and Mrs. August Boehmer, predeceased him.
