    • Mr. F. Wahn Died Suddenly This Morning
      HIS DEATH OCCURRED SUDDENLY
A Son of the Late Valentine Wahn of Preston

Death came suddenly to a resident of the city to-day, namely, Mr. F. W. Wahn, who succumbed apoplexy at his home on Alma Street this morning. Mr. Wahn just before his death had been in his usual good health and a few minutes previous to the passing out of life had been at the home of his Brother law, Dr. F. Kalbfleisch, where he read the paper and conversed without any signs being in evidence that the end would come so soon.

Soon after he had returned to his home where he conversed with his wife, the affliction overcame him. Medical attention was soon given by Dr. Kalbfleisch but the spark of life had flickered out. Mr. Wahn with his family had removed to the city only recently from Winnipeg and it was his intention to again make his home in this city.

The deceased was fifty five years of age and was born in Preston. He was a son of Mrs. Valentine Wahn, of Neustadt and the late Valentine Wahn, of Preston. The mother, by the way, has reached the advanced age of eighty-eight years. The Wahn family is well-known here, especially among the older citizens. The late Valentine Wahn was a prominent manufacturer in Preston, owning a foundry in that town.

The early years of the subject of this reference were spent in Preston. Later he resided in Neustadt; subsequently in Manitoba and for some years he resided here, where he owned the Walper Cigar Store. Ten years ago he removed to the West, and he had resided in Winnipeg up to the removal to the city a short time ago.

Surviving him are his wife, who was Miss Christina Kalbfleisch, and one daughter, Mrs. John Wardrop of Winnipeg. There is also one brother, Charles of Gretna, Man., and the following sisters, Mrs. Edward Roos, city; Mrs. Elizabeth Beal, and Mrs. Margaret Newton, New York; Mary and Caroline at home in Neustadt. The late Mr. Wahn had a wide acquaintance and a host of friends, who admired his personality and worthy qualities. In the hour of bereavement they offer their condolences to the family. The funeral will be held at two o'clock on Monday afternoon, at the residence of Dr. Kalbfleisch; interment will follow in Preston.
