    • Mrs. Mary Taylor, Wife Of Ald. John Taylor, Succumbs To Lingering Illness

      Mrs. Mary Taylor, wife of Alderman John Taylor and a member of the Preston Public School Board since 192 6, died at the Galt General Hospital this morning. She was in her 50th year. Though in poor health for some time the late Mrs. Taylor's death came quite unexpectedly, recent reports being that she was improving. Giving freely of her time and talent, the late Mrs. Taylor took a keen interest in community affairs. She was particularly enthusiastic in regard to educational matters and as a member of the school board served well. It was chiefly through her endeavors that marked advancements have been made in Music in the public schools here. She was a past chairman of the board. Glad to do her bit in patriotic work, the late Mrs. Taylor was a member of the Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Empire being a past regent of the local chapter. She was also a past president of the Women's Institute and a past Grand Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. The late Mrs. Taylor was a charter member of that organisation and a member of the Preston Chapter. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, the late Mrs, Taylor's maiden name was Mary Watson. She came to London, Ont., from Scotland, 26 years ago and after residing in that city for 13 years moved to Preston, where she had since resided. Besides her family who live in Scotland, her husband survives. The funeral will be held Monday afternoon from the late reaidence, 911 Moore street, Preston, at 2.30 o'clock. Interment will be made in Preston cemetery.
