      It was with deep regret that citizens learned of the death of Thomas Donaldson, one of Preston's oldest residents, which occurred at his residence, 1196 Queen street, Friday evening at about seven o'clock. Deceased had been ill for only a week, with an attack of influenza, which developed into pneumonia. He was predeceased by his wife in early January of this year. Mr. Donaldson was born in Peterhead, Scotland and would have marked his 77th birthday this coming November. When a young man he came to Canada and for the past 35 years has made his home in Preston, during the course of which he made many friends. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church. Surviving are four daughters and three sons: Elizabeth and Jessie at home, Mrs. W. C. Little, town and Mrs. J. R. Robertson of Merrickville; Thomas Donaldson of Montreal and James and Robert of Preston. The funeral will be held Monday afternoon at 2.30 o'clock from the late residence to the Preston cemetery, with Rev. H. D. Moyer officiating.
