- Mrs. H. W. Makcrow Laid to Rest
Largely attended funeral service for Sarah Ann Siseman, relict of Henry William Makcrow, well-known Preston resident for the past 40 years who died at South Waterloo Memorial Hospital on Saturday morning was conducted at St. Paul's United Church yesterday afternoon by Rev. J. H. Herlihey. Numerous beautiful floral tributes also bespoke esteem in which deceased was held in the community. In her 78th year the late Mrs. Makcrow had been ailing for 21 years and had been confined to hospital seriously ill for a month prior to her death. A native of Reigate, Surrey, England, she came to Canada in 1913, residing for a short time in Galt and for the past 40 years in Preston.
A staunch member of St. Paul's United Church the deceased was past president of the Golden Rule Bible Class and a member of the Women's Christian Temperance Union, while she was also past president of the Daughters of England. Her husband predeceased her in 1938.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. C. Losey at home, Mrs. Joseph Stewart of Preston, Mrs. W. Bryce of Doon, Mrs. Cecil Hurst of Toronto and Margaret at home; three sons, Robert James of Hespeler, Charles of Preston, Henry of Hespeler. Two brothers, Jack Siseman of Australia and William Siseman of England, 13 grandchildren and six great grandchildren also survive. A sister and three brothers predeceased her.
The Daughters of England, in tribute to their former president, conducted a funeral service at the Stager-Pass Ltd. funeral home at 1: 30 yesterday afternoon and formed a guard of honor at the funeral home and also at church accompanied by the Women's Missionary Society.
Interment took place in the Preston cemetery.
The pallbearers were: Ernest Thompson, Charles Thompson and Stanley Hall of Galt; William and Robert Makcrow of Hespeler; and Harry Elding of Preston.
