  WILLIAM THORNTON PRESTON. Oct. 16 - William Thornton, a well-known resident of this town for many years, died at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, today in his 80th year. He had been ill for several years and had been a hospital patient for three weeks. He was born in Southampton, but spent the early part of his life in the Seaforth district where he farmed. He moved from that area to Preston where he resided for 19 years during which period he was employed as a yard foreman by the Canadian Office and School Furniture Company. He later lived in Toronto for three years, but recently returned to Preston. He is a former member of the Canadian Order of Foresters. His wife predeceased him in 1938, leaving as survivors four daughters, Miss Eleanor Thornton, Toronto; Mrs. Robert Birtley, Toronto; Mrs. Harry Pfeiffer, Preston, and Mrs. William Marshall, Preston; two brothers, James of Toronto and John of Petrolia and three sisters, Mrs. James Thornton, Toronto, Mrs. Gill of Toronto and Mrs. Ross of North Bay. The remains are resting at the Stager-Pass Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held Monday at 2: 30, Interment will be in the Preston Cemetery.
