    • Ex-Kitchener Alderman Dies at 81

      Walter Harttung of Kitchener, a former city alderman and former manager of Waterloo Trust and Savings, died Tuesday at St. Mary's Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was 81.

      Mr. Harttung was a Kitchener alderman in the early 1920s and he was a member of the committee that drew up the construction plans for the city hall.

      Born in Kitchener, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Karl Harttung, he lived in the city most life. He was predeceased by his wife and one son, George. Surviving is one daughter, Ruth of Toronto.

      The body is at the Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home until Thursday morning when removal will be made to Mount Hope cemetery for a graveside service at. 10:30 a.m. Very Rev. Finlay G. Stewart will officiate.
