  JOHN SPECKEEN PRESTON, Aug. 17---John Speckeen, 707 Hespeler St., died this morning at St. Mary's Hospital in his 49th year. He had been confined to hospital for two and a half weeks. The deceased was born at Pine Bush and had lived at Preston for the past 35 years. Prior to that time, he had resided in Hespeler and Sudbury. Mr. Speckeen served in the First Great War with the 111th Battalion. He was employed at the Pattison Woollen Mills, where he had worked for the past 27 years. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Preston. Surviving are his wife, Edith Ridge, and three daughters: Margaret May, Ethel Dorothy Mary and Betty Edith, all at home. There are also three sisters and two brothers: Mrs. T. Willett, Brantford; Mrs. Albert Shingler, Hespeler; Mrs. Eric McDonald, Lansing, Mich.; Frank of Preston and Angus of Toronto. A son, Norman, predeceased him in 1931. The remains are resting at the residence until Saturday at 10 a.m., when they will be removed to the Stager-Pass Funeral Home for the funeral service on Saturday afternoon at 2: 30.
