    • JACOB, Hazel

At St. Mary's General Hospital, on Thursday, Feb. 13, 1997, of Kitchener, in her 85th year. This is a special, private lady who has taught us immeasurably over 85 years about patience, dignity, quality of life. She is mother of Thelma Slocki of Agincourt, Joyce and Dr. Charles Pierce of New Hamburg; respected and loved best grandmother of Chantelle and Nathaniel; sister of Ellen Vogel; sister-in-law of Blanche and Earl Jacob. Remembered specially by nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, George and Catherine Stroh of Glen Allen; sister, Edna MacLean and brother-in-law John; brother-in-law, Henry Vogel; brother, Clayton Stroh; husband, Howard C. Jacob. Hazel loved her garden of beautiful flowers, her crotcheting, sewing, elderberry pies. She knew how to keep others secrets quietly to herself and to listen carefully with interest to others concerns. She was strong and determined to have the voice of a senior citizen heard in the political arena when the politicians crossed the line from caring and sensibility. Hazel was a true friend. Quiet and reserved, she lived her religion daily. In her life there was no such word as "can't" but she frequently quoted phrases such as "Where there's a will, there's a way", "Don't fuss", "If you don't ask for it you won't get it". Hazel will be at Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. W., Kitchener with visitation on Friday, Feb. 14, 1997 (today) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be on Saturday, Feb. 15, 1997 at 11 a.m., conducted by Rev. Ken Bauman. She has selected crem-ation in her concerns about the en-vironment. Interment at Woodland Cemetery. Hazel has had exceptional compassionate care from Dr. David Lawson. Excellent care from Dr. McTavish, Dr. Prasad and Dr. V. Ho. Many thanks to staff on third and fifth floors who took the time to listen and care for our mother's need when we needed them.
