- WILLIAM ARTHUR NUTTALL
PRESTON, June 6 - William Arthur Nuttal, wellknown manufacturer of cement products and a leading Oddfellow of this district, died in Galt General Hospital Sunday afternoon from injuries sustained in an accident at Pinebush, near Hespeler, Saturday afternoon. He was 64. The late Mr. Nuttall was an ardent worker in the Oddfellow cause in Preston and district, He was presented with his 25-year jewel by Cambridge lodge a month ago. At the time of his death he was secretary of Encampment District 13 and had been a past grand of the Cambridge lodge, a past chief Patriach of Victory Encampment 111 and had frequently represented the local lodge at the sessions of the Grand Lodge. His memorials in the district are many. He played a prominent part in the construction of the cairn on the Oddfellows plot at the Preston Cemetery and on various occasions comepleted contracts for sidewalk construction in Preston, for the town. He served as a member of the council on two occasions, 1910 and 1928. William Nuttall came to Canada from London, Eng., 47 years ago. He stayed in Ontario for two years, going to the west for a harvest season and then later he farmed as a youth at Kintore. After a short stay in England he returned and located in Preston where he served as a stationary engineer for Geo. Pattinson and Co. and the Stahlschmidt Furniture Co. and later for the Dominion Tire Co., Kitchener and the Preston Light and Water Commission and the local substation of the provincial Hydro. He established his manufacturing business in1923. Under Oddfellow auspices the funeral will take place from the Gordon Pass Funeral Home, 536 King St. Preston, Wednesday afternoon at 2.30 o'clock. Interment will be in the Oddfellows plot at Preston cemetery, close to the cairn he helped erect .
