- John William White
PRESTON. March 27 - Preston resident for the past 22 years, John William White died at the home of his niece. Mrs. R. J. Thompson, 246 Church St., at 1: 15 Thursday afternoon at the age of 81. Mr. White, familiarly known to many as "Uncle John," had been crippled all his life and confined to bed for the past five years. Born in Burford Township, he resided on No. 2 Highway near Falkland before coming to Preston. He made his home for 11 years with his sister, Mrs. Frederick Schartrberg and for the past 11 years with his niece, Mrs. Thompson. He was an adherent of the United Church. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Benson Felton of Falkland, and Mrs. Frederick Schartzberg, of Preston, last surviving members of a family of 15 children. The funeral was held today with interment in the Preston Cemetery. Rev. F. C. Miller of St. Paul's United Church officiated.
