    • Death of Mr. John D. Knechtel

      The death occurred at his home in Galt, on Thursday, of John D. Knechtel, aged 46 years and 11 months. The deceased had suffered from some trouble for the past fifteen years, but was only confined to his bed since Sunday. He fell asleep at eight o'clock last evening and did not awake again. He was born in Preston, where his childhood was spent, his boyhood and early manhood being passed on a farm in Waterloo township. He finally settled in Galt, where he continued to reside until his death. On coming to town he entered the employ of Robert Gilholm and was with him until ill health necessitated his retirement from work. He leaves a widow and five children, three boys and two girls, all of whom live in Galt. He was a member of the Methodist church, with which he had been connected for some eight years. The funeral took place from his late residence, on Young street, at 3 o'clock, on Saturday afternoon, to Mount View Cemetery.
