    • Death of Mrs. Schaaf.

      A highly esteemed and lifelong resident of New Hamburg, Mrs. Louisa Schaaf, passed to her eternal rest on Monday morning, August 21st, following an illness of six months duration due to old age. She would have been 80 years old on Sept. 6th. The late Mrs. Schaaf was born in New Hamburg, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Gartung and spent her whole life here, taking great interest in women's work and especially in the activities of Trinity Lutheran Church of which she was a devoted and faithful member all her life. She was married in 1870 to William Schaaf who predeceased her on August 20th, 1910. There are left in bereavement three sons and five daughters, Henry, of Aberdeen, Washington, John of Claire, Mich., William, of Meyponne, Sask., Mrs. D. Currie, of Fort Francis, Mrs. Fred Peine, New Hamburg, Mrs. James Gough, of Dyment, Miss Clara at home and Mrs. G. Ball, of New Westminster, B.C. The funeral was held yesterday afternoon with private service at the home and public service in Trinity Lutheran Church followed by interment in the family plot in Riverside cemetery. The funeral services were conducted by the pastor, Rev. H. R. Mosig. A large circle of sorrowing relatives and friends attended the funeral and many floral tribute's were sent by relatives and friends.
