• Notes

  Henry Sohrt Henry Sohrt, formerly postmaster at Kossuth, passed away at the home of his son, John Sohrt, Preston, this morning at 1.30 o'clock, in his 84th year. The late Mr. Sohrt was born in Habey, Germany and came to Canada in 1868 and arrived in this district a year later settling at Kossuth. In 1883 he was appointed postmaster there and held that position until 1915 when the establishment of rural routes did away with that office. Thru his postmastership, the deceased was well and favorably known thruout the community. His wife and one daughter, Mrs. Aaron Baer predeceased him some time ago. Besides his son there survive eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The funeral will take place from the home of Mervin Baer at Kossuth on Saturday afternoon at two o'clock. From Hagey's church where services will be held, interment will take place at Preston cemetery. Kitchener Daily Record 26 Dec 1929 pg 3
