- Allan Wylie
PRESTON--Allan David Wylie, 60, died in K-W Hospital last night after a long illness. Born June 18, 1892, in Detroit. Mich., Mr. Wylie came to Preston in 1903. He joined the staff of the former Metal Shingle and Siding Co. Ltd.. in 1906, first as a draughtsman, then salesman. When the firm was taken over by the Eastern Steel Products he continued and at his death was in charge of the builders supply and equipment division covering Preston, Montreal and Toronto areas. He served as warden of St. John's Anglican Church for many years and was a member of the building committee. He was a
past president of the Preston-Hespeler Rotary Club and for many years was chairman of the crippled children's committee. He was also an official of the Ontario Society for Crippled Children. A past master of the Preston Masonic Lodge, he was also a past president of the Galt Curling Club, and at his death a member of the board of directors. Mr. Wylie served one term as Preston alderman in 1933. He was vice-president of the South Waterloo Memorial Hospital, in the financial campaign which was such a marked success last year. For several years he served as a trustee on the former Preston High School Board. Surviving are his wife, Luella Wylie, two daughters, Margaret at home and Mrs. D. L. Cairns (Hulda) of Holland, Manitoba; one son, W. H. Miller of Kitchener; a sister, Miss Isabel Wylie of Preston. Two grandsons also survive. The body is resting at the Stager-Pass Ltd., funeral home, Preston, until Saturday at noon. The funeral will he at St. John's Anglican Church at 2: 30. Burial will be in Preston cemetery.
