    • HABERMEHL, Albert Leroy (Roy)

      Died, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 1992, in his 68th year. Retired Cambridge City Clerk, he was Clerk Coordinator of the Town of Preston for many years and upon the formation of the new City of Cambridge, he became its first City Clerk, retiring January 1, 1982. Roy was active in many local organisations, he was past president of Branch No. 126 Royal Canadian Legion having also served for many years on its Board of Trustees. He also was Service Officer for several years. A charter member of Waterloo-Wellington Branch of the War Amputations of Canada, he held many positions including president and currently served as secretary. He was also a current member of the National Council of the War Amps, Past Master of the Preston Masonic Lodge No. 297, a member of the Naval Veterans and the Airborn Association. Survived by his wife, Doris Hart whom he married February 6, 1943. Also surviving is a daughter, Diane and her husband Ron Bain of Cambridge; three sons, Allan and his wife Carmen of Kitchener, Ted and his Wife Sheila of Cambridge and Robin and his wife Rita of Russell, Ont.; his step-mother, Lydia of Claresholm, Alta.; one sister, Donna (Mrs. Henry Kurtz) of Calgary and four brothers, Frank of New Hamburg, Donald of Kingston, Leonard of Waterloo and Wayne of Ponoka, Alta. There are 10 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his mother, Mearl McLeod in 1940 and his father, William P. Habermehl in 1983. At the request. of the family, there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at St. John's Anglican Church, 587 Queenston Rd., Cambridge, on Thursday, Sept. 24, 1992 (today) at 7.30 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to the Barthel Funeral Home, Cambridge, 653-3251.
