  JOHN HERBERT NEAR PRESTON, March 17— Illness of eight months duration, culminated in the death at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, early this morning of John Herbert Near, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eleam Near, in his 41st year. Born in Hespeler, the late Mr. Near, with the exception of a short period spent in Chicago and Toronto, spent his entire life in this district and was well known. His passing was attributed to a heart ailment. For the past 20 years, the deceased was employed as a spinner at the Pattinson Woollen Mill. Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eleam Near and one sister, Lance-Cpl., Phyllis Near of the Canadian Women's Army Corps. The remains are resting at the residence, 400 William Street, until Thursday when service will take place at the Gordon Pass Funeral Home at 2.30. Interment will be Preston Cemetery.
