- William David Thompson
PRESTON, William David Thompson of 339 Highland Park, died suddenly, at South Waterloo Hospital, Friday. He was 71. Born in Preston, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jospeh Thompson. He lived in Waterloo and Brantford, before returning here in 1944. He was a retiree manager of the Grand River Railway. He started with the railway at the age of 18 and had been employed for 47 years, before retiring. He was a member of St. John's Anglican Church, the Preston-Hespeler Rotary Club and was a past-master of the Preston Masonic Lodge. Surviving are his wife, the former May Howitt; one son, Malin of Willowdale and three grandchildren. The body is at the Barthel-Stager Funeral Home, where funeral and committal services, will be conducted by Rev. William Lewis, Sunday, of 2 p.m. Burial will be in Preston cemetery.
