  ERNEST GABBITAS PRESTON, Sept. 18 - Ernest Gabbitas, well known King street resident, died here suddenly at seven o' clock this morning. While he had been in failing health for some months, his death came quite unexpectedly. He was in his 55 year. Born in England, the late Mr. Gabbitas came to Canada 30 years ago. He worked in Ottawa for a year with the Ottawa Car Company and then came to Preston, where he was employed for some years in the Preston Car and Coach Company, now defunct. He later operated a store here. As a sport enthusiast, Preston boasted few better men. The deceased took a keen interest in amateur sport and was a regular attendant, even during tbe past summer, at baseball and softball games. His keenest interest was in hockey, seldom missing a game in the winter months. Besides his wife, there survives one daughter, Mrs., Orme Rodger of Fergus and one son, Robert of Preston. A brother in the west also servives. The funeral will be held from his late residence, 857 King street, on Sunday afternoon at three o'clock and following services interment will take place in Preston cemetery. The remains are resting at the Harold W. Gray Funeral Home, 536, King street, until 11 o'clock Saturday morning after which they will he removed to the residence.
